Americans shouldn’t allow themselves to be conned again
EDITOR:
Americans were conned into believing there was an extreme urgency to pass the Stimulus Bill in January, or the country would collapse. Cap and Trade was likewise rushed through Congress before anyone could read the bill. Now Atty. David J. Betras suggests in an Aug. 2 letter that Republicans are conning the country and lying about the facts of national health care. Find out for yourselves at www.nchc.org, National Coalition on Health Care. Go to “Facts About Health Care,” then “World Health Care Data.”
We’re being told there is a health care crisis in this country, but there’s nothing wrong with our health care. There is, however, a health cost crisis, and one of the causes is that attorneys convince many Americans to sue over even the most frivolous injury or incident, knowing that insurance companies settle nearly all of these cases rather than incur the greater expense of a trial. It’s a win-win for the attorney and client, but everyone else loses by paying higher premiums. Fix this first with “loser pays” and real tort reform. Treat the causes and not just the symptoms. (Google “Stella Awards”)
The Obama plan is a means to pay for health care by making us all pay more, and believe me, it will be all of us and not just the millionaires. When has our government EVER run a program efficiently? The bureaucracy in this bill will be enormous. Government-managed health care means you will be told when you can see a specialist. In countries with national health care, the average waiting period between seeing a specialist and going to surgery is three months.
There are several provisions in the bill for “community organizations” to help out, and it looks like ACORN will be at the top of that list to provide hospice for those deemed too old for surgery or treatment. You also WILL be paying for the uninsured, including those that choose not to buy insurance and all the illegal aliens who use our medical facilities. In fact, we are paying for the illegals now through increased hospital charges to cover those losses from the uninsured. When some people can’t pay, the hospital increases the charge for an aspirin, for example, by a penny. Do you know what an aspirin costs in the hospital today?
Self-discipline and personal responsibility aren’t part of the Health Care Bill, either, but they should be. We should be teaching our children how to take care of themselves and others. Starting with basic first aid in 6th grade, this should progress up through the 12th grade with military-style “Self Aid and Buddy Care,” SABC. One of the biggest reasons people rush to the emergency rooms is that they don’t know what to do for simple injuries and illnesses. Also, there is not a single reference anywhere in this bill regarding curing any disease.
So when it comes to conning and lying to the public, it appears that we are now dealing with masters of the craft in this administration. We are all gradually being taken down the path toward socialism. We need to put the brakes on this socialist power train and bring it to a halt before we experience the greatest train wreck in history.

No matter how bad he screws up Obama has a pension for life with health benefits that can't be cut . How many in the private sector have that guarantee ? The big question is,how many suckers will vote for him in 2012 ?
Dr. Allen.... do you think you should have mentioned that your a veterinarian, not a medical doctor?
ProMerkin....Obama is not a doctor. He is "The President of the United States of America."
I don't know where his birth certificate is. Probably in some hut in Kenya.
What the hell does it matter what the guy's occupation is? He never said he was an m.d.
He never said "As a doctor..." in the letter to try and qualify anything. It seems to me that he read the entire proposed bill, which is dead now anyway. In any event, I am not an m.d. either.
Health co-ops will be created because the dems knew the original bill had massive problems with it. They balked and came to their senses and blatantly stated the votes to pass the bill were not there.
The letter brings up logical points. The problem is with cost not the level or quality of care. What has the government ever run the has had positive effects on the working class? The bill would have most certainly covered illegal aliens and their families. Votes. All for votes.
"HE ( Obama) is the BEST we have. Would you have back BUSH ???"
- Please, please , please tell me what planet you are from or currently residing on. I must know. You write more nonsense than a network journalist.

""Oh peace!? SHUT UP!"
It's sad to see someone I once respected degenerate to using half-baked rumors and playing on people's prejudices as Dr. Allen does in his 4th paragraph.
Illegal immigrants are not causing shortages in healthcare in Youngstown. His allegations about ACORN and hospice care are ridiculously false.
Dr. Allen quite clearly has not read the House version of the bill or even a reliable synopsis of it.
Sadly, misinformation seems to have won the day -- a victory for healthcare profiteers and ignorance. The people of our country will lose the chance for stable heathcare again as they did throughout the twentieth century.
I believe it is too late to save this bill, but if you want to learn about the deadly proliferation of rumor go to politifact.com, factcheck.org, or snopes.com
Good News! Rumor is swirling the dems plan on dropping the public option. You're freedom still has a chance!

Dr. Aleen must be using FAUX news as his source. That alone is why he why he will loose in the primary. Many of the points he makes are simply lies. Medicare 3% administrative costs, insurance companies 20%. You will see a letter showing the executive salaries of the major health carriers later in the Vindy. That is the real cost of health insurance!
marauder, I'm wondering if you're looking at the 3% of the total medicare "trust fund" or if it is the percentage of the actual outgoing costs for that year to get the 3% administrative cost. I could see them including the unused trust fund to try to make it sound more efficient.
However let's not forget about the 5-10% of government spending going to fraud and corruption every year.
"The rule of thumb typically is that of the about $500 billion worth of money that's going to run through the procurement process, somewhere between 5% and 10% of that usually finds it way into potential problems," Williams said. "That's sort of the benchmark that I use." http://www.marketwatch.com/story/stim...
I've also heard the GAO backup this statement. So with spending at 3.4 trillion this year the corrupt of the world would like to thank the american taxpayer for the 340 billion lost to corruption.
Gee!!!! Let me see....If i needed some medical attention and had to choose between a animal doctor, which by the way gets alot of the same education as a people doctor does...and a radical community organizer who was elected to the highest office due to hate of the previous administration and not his abilities, who has gone against all his campaign promises so far, who has weakened our reputation to the rest of the world by appoligising for everything, who calls himself the great unifier but calls our police stupid and our doctors scammers who do unneccessary operations, who with every speach at least once blames the previous administration for everything, who cant even speak unless hes coached by a teleprompter, and who is so egotistical that he wont rest till he has total control of everything.......hmmmmm, let me think on this one
That's one long sentence in the previous post! Reads like a ransom note.
LieProtector....you need to calm down and take a deep breath. It's only a movie.
No fear my friends. Mr Obama will indeed get this bill passed, even if he has to pass it himself, or sneak behind our backs. How much longer will we allow this man to stay in power?
"How much longer will we allow this man to stay in power?"
Um... 3 1/2 years?
Dr. Allen is running for Congress against Charlie Wilson, and seeing as how our current Congressmen refuse to have any kind of public debate on the issue (and instead relegating it to a teleconference that may or may not happen), I am glad someone is stepping up to be a voice of opposition against our representatives who have already made up their mind without consulting their constituents.
