Winky Wright unlikely as Pavlik opponent

Kelly Pavlik’s handlers are close to announcing his next opponent — and it looks like it won’t be Winky Wright.

When asked about the Wright rumors, Pavlik’s trainer, Jack Loew, said “It’s not happening.”

“The fight will be announced tomorrow,” he said.

Loew declined to reveal the opponent’s name and calls to Pavlik’s co-manager, Cameron Dunkin, were not immediately returned.

The fight will take place Oct. 3 in Atlantic City and be televised on HBO.
