Ryan, Wilson speak out on health-care reform

Published: Tue, August 4, 2009 @ 11:50 a.m.

YOUNGSTOWN — U.S. Reps. Tim Ryan and Charlie Wilson told reporters today health-care reform is imperative for their constituents.

“The insurance companies have been raking people over the coals. They’ve been denying people coverage because they have cancer, heart disease and a variety of other illnesses. They don’t quality because of pre-existing conditions. Those days are over,” vowed Ryan of Niles, D-17th. “They’re rationing care now,” he said of the insurance companies.

“You’re going to get lower costs. You’re going to get better-quality care, and you will not be denied coverage because of a pre-existing condition,” Ryan said.

“If we don’t do some health-care reform to help get better where we are, our nation is going to suffer. ... It’s a big project, but one that we need to do,” said Wilson of St. Clairsville, D-6th.

Ryan and Wilson predicted Congress will pass health-care reform by the end of the year.

The local congressmen endorse the reform proposal in House Bill 3200, which has passed through the House Energy and Commerce Committee and still needs to come out of the powerful Ways and Means Committee.

The congressmen spoke at an impromptu news conference at the Mahoning County High School on Hudson Avenue, where they and about 200 other people attended a juvenile crime summit.

I don't know much about Wilson but Tim Ryan is a waste. Unless he can get his picture on TV or in the paper holding The Big Check he is worthless. The only thing he is truly concerned about is his own re-election. He loves to take credit for things that would have happened even without his personal annointing. ANY congressman could do the same thing Ryan loves to take credit for. Do you honestly believe any elected person would not take the same safe stands as Ryan? He has quickly mastered he art of telling you what you want to hear. Sure, he has managed to hang his name on some good things for the valley, but any other person in the same position could do the same thing. Ryan has a lot of people mystified with his smoke and mirrors.

hubbard- you sir are 100% correct! Isn't it nice to see how Timmy hides in the media instead of facing his constituents in a town hall meeting? Come on Timmy, man up.

The politics of fear and smear continue. I've lost track of all of the people I'm supposed to hate. Let's see, there's private businesses like insurance and oil companies, Wall Street executives, doctors who take out tonsils, a private citizen who offers opinions via the first amendment (Rush Limbaugh), politicians who oppose the socialist transformation (all republicans, but especially Sarah Palin), Ken Starr, Dan Quayle, Fox News, Dick Cheney and of course President Bush 43, those crazy TEA party folk with wild ideas about government fiscal responsibility, anybody who doesn't believe in global warming (like some of those quack nobel lauriates), and oh yeah the wealthy (surely they don't deserve what they've earned!).

I'm sure I'm leaving so many off the hate list. I wanna be a good Democrat. Please let me know what other Americans I should also hate and villify.
