Sen. McCain, Gov. Palin coming to Valley on Tuesday

Published: Fri, September 12, 2008 @ 11:12 a.m.

VIENNA — John McCain, the Republican presidential nominee, and Sarah Palin, his vice presidential running mate, will have a “Victory 2008 Rally,” at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Winner Aviation at the Youngstown-Warren Airport in Vienna.

This will be the first visit to the Mahoning Valley for Palin, the Alaskan governor picked to be McCain’s running mate. The doors to the event open at 1 p.m.

Free tickets will be made available beginning Saturday afternoon. The locations for ticket distribution have yet to be determined.

McCain, a U.S. senator from Arizona, is making his third campaign trip to the Democratic-dominated area in the past five months.

McCain had a town hall meeting with some General Motors workers at the company’s plant in Lordstown and then went to a private fundraiser in Howland on June 27.

He had a town hall meeting at Youngstown State University on April 22 that was open to the public.

For the complete story, read Saturday’s Vindicator and Vindy.com.

Will Mayor Williams do a George McKelvey that day? Will Governor Palin be taking a vacation day to be there(you know, reform and all)?

Her staff are going to have to be prepared for a lot of questions from her, it is afterall her first trip to an economically depressed region. They need to ensure she's as well prepared as she was last night for ABC...as long as there aren't any questions about her own party's foreign policy, NAFTA or anything else one running for VP might expect to need to know she'll do fine.

She will make the same speech she did everywhere else. Talking about taking on the gov't, big oil, lobbyist, and the good old boys. She will sound like a broken record. Hopefully she will have a new speech!!!

The easiest way for her to have a new speech would be to start telling the truth.

Some of the things she could start with are: Record per -capita earmarks for Alaska.

She was for the Bridge to nowhere until congress pulled the plug but kept the money anyway.

She and her family getting paid daily per diem while living at home.

Claims she cleaned house when elected mayor when in fact all she did was fire anyone who had backed her opponent in the election.

Claims "Iraq is Gods task for America."

Encourage her fellow parishioners to pray for the pipeline "that is Gods will".

If you really want to know about this woman go to youtube and search "Palin" or "Palin in church" and you can hear it from her own mouth. The video of her addressing the Alaska Independence party is especially interesting. They are a party that her husband belong to for 7 years that wants Alaska to succeed from the United States.

Cambridge: I completely agree with you. I watched the second part of her interview on 20/20 last night. I found her very fake, scripted, and tip toed around answering the questions asked. Oh and i found some of her answer very untruthful!

Ask Republicans not to insult our intelligence here - ignore the visit all together. She's not a serious candidate, she's a smokescreen to the real issue, which is McCain's total failure to create new policies, new ideas, or any sort of hope or excitement for the future. What a shame that the only way we even have a race is through the bait of a laughable embarrassment of a VP choice whose incompetence makes for amusing water cooler chat. We should be ashamed to even dignify this VP selection. Who would vote for someone who nominates such a moron?

God some of you are pathetic "the bridge" was not her baby just some thing she supported till she found out it was worthless project and spent 2-3 million on a ferry system. She can't ask for money or ere-marks like that no governor can.

OBAMA and BIDEN voted for it imagine that Obama voted for something.

God's will for troops Lincoln said Kennedy said it She repeated it in a speech? So start picking on the others then. And look at their stands on abortion and ask if God is in the picture. So if God is a big issue to you then Abortion ought to be on top of your list.

If you want change write your city councilmen, mayor, governor and petition your congressmen. Wow she was a councilmen, mayor and governor, so better yet write your community organizer instead.

I just ask you look up some ere-mark voting records of all the candidates see who is asking for what, the biggest one is BIDEN, Obama is close to him but has not asked for anything the last year [wonder why] Then look up McCain's record. Find out who is making the big contributions and find who owns and is the CEO of those companies.

Hawaii has had the same idea of separation so has every American Indian Tribe still left.

Don't go to church's and you tube if you do check out every racist, anti American, and player hater of Obama church, maybe then Oprah can go one on one with Sarah. Of course I think Oprah has it in her to even conduct a decent interview at least one non bias or non racist. [NOT]

Remember the 57 state remark Obama made, so are their 57 Muslim gods? Or prophets? Or keepers [angle like] Last week he let "his strong Muslim faith" slide right off his tongue in a interview and asked by George if he meant "strong Christian faith" Obama corrected himself. When the speech is over and the lights are gone all that is left is a empty suit. And a Muslim bobble head with big ears.

If Obama wins i might move to Alaska and vote for separation

Palin said it was God's will not quoting anyone. That is her belief of her religion. So don't try to give her an excuse. I think so many people are falling into the control over the puppet master, McCain. They gave you a terrible choice for VP and putting out there info that just donesn't add up.

You talk about voting for Alaska's separation. That is exactly what Palin's husband was all about! Sarah had even been to anevent fot it. My personal opinion. Let them go. See what happens to them on their own. They will not make it.

If McCain Palin win. I may just have move to Canada. I mean why stay here where the economy will just get worse, hit rock bottom and flat line for four more years.

Ohio is a red state get used to it. watch the news try some non bias channel 56 on cable get some facts don't worry obama's economic plan will simply implode and you think bush was bad, just try a social liberal and it will change. "Spare change" is what you will be looking for. So when you do move at least log on and let us know how it is up north. So in view it is OK for Alaska to separate so it is cool for Hawaii also and our Native Indian Tribes? i just want to know? With their seafood timber oil and gas i am sure they will do just fine. What's your Deomcratic Congress done for this Valley lately? What's voting Democrat for every local election done for this Valley?

30+ years of Youngstown flushing down the toilet is not all Bush's fault or the Republican's fault, especially in a Democrat controlled area!

Some of the people here should speak the comments aloud that they intend to write just so that they can hear how absurd they sound.

I was thinking of voting for McCain because he showed a little backbone. But his appointment of Sarah Palin demonstrated to me that the good ole boy NEOCONs are once again in the drivers seat.

Allan Grenspan has stated the McCain economic policy would be disastrous.

Quit frankly the thought of Ms. Palin sitting across the table from the likes of a Mahmoud Ahmadinejad chills me to the bone. Given McCains health issues and age Ms. Palin could in deed become the President Of The United States. SCARY VERY SCARY

Palins credentials.
Palin attended 5 different small colleges before graduating. She was a beauty queen, local weather girl, 4 years on the small town city council and 6 years as the mayor of a town with less than 7,000 people, 20 months as the governor of a state with only 650,000 people.

Obama inexperienced? You be the judge.
President of the Harvard Law Review, 12 years as a Constitutional Law professor, 8 years as a State Senator representing a district with over 750,000 people, chairman of the state Senate's Health and Human Services committee, 4 years in the United States Senate representing state of 3 million people and has served on the Foreign Affairs, Environment, Public Works and Veteran's Affairs committees.

Dodd [d] 165,000

kerry [d]111,000
the top three in political donations

So i don't think i want some one planning a lesson in economics from F & F
it is just another example that he is in deep with the wrong people the lunatic left.

And to bad he didn't vote something other than present most of the time and voting in very popular bills that are landslides don't count.

But it does explain why he talks so good and can read a teleprompter so well

he also is chairmen of what that European Intel on Afghanistan and has not ever held a meeting?

Just love his view on bill 99 in the IL senate.
explain that to most kindergarten kids.

Further more he has not been a United States Senator for 4 years. Try 2005 and running for president the last 1.5 years and i will let you publish the record on missed votes? So go visit Wikipedia [again]

I KNOW I'm not seeing someone accusing Obama's speeches of all being sent on a teleprompter. After watching Sarah Palin's readings of the past four weeks, and having seen Obama speak repeatedly at town hall meetings and on stages without a script and without a prompter, that criticism is simply wrong.

Maybe you should take a look at some sources outside of Wikipedia. I know that takes a little more effort, but you never know. Snopes.com or factcheck.org might open your eyes a bit.

Also, Tomcat is a flat out liar. I've called him/her on it before on other posts. Obama is not a liar and has never admitted to it. I need to see some actual citing of sources. And not all our troops hate him. Talk about a generalization.

Once more, I see people decrying the Democratic influence in the Mahoning Valley and pointing to it as a reason for our economic hardships, while ignoring the fact that Republicans have controlled the statehouse and the governorship for decades. They also ignore the national political landscape, where Republicans have dominated Congress, the Presidency, and even the Supreme Court now.

Last time I checked, an elected official is supposed to represent all of his or her constituents, not just the ones who happen to agree with him or her.

first obama in a town hall meeting get real hilary showed him in their last 3 debates all which she followed up in beating the all mighty one in Ohio and PA, when he is put on the spot he suffers and shows weakness take him out of his protective shield [teleprompter] his base controlled supporters put him front of a bi partisan crowd and open forum he might not look so presidential. Seems strange he has declined every opportunity to avoid simple town hall meetings with McCain before the nomination and after but there coming when his jaw tightens his brows come in a bit he will dance around and over and under topics like he is to good to answer it.

Palin went from Alaska to every headline news media dirt digger blog rumor overnight,so we will see when she sits down across from baden to see how she measures up.

"Hey TB, you didn't happen to see Obama's lips moving when he said "my Muslim faith". Boy, you must be living in a cave dude."
If He did, can you give me a link to follow? I'd be very interested in seeing this.

Most of what has been posted is pure opinion with no back up. I know when I've seen Obama speak and answer questions, he didn't dance around any of them. He answered thoughtfully and explained both his positions and his plans, which, again, can be found on his website.

"Remember congressmen take bills and ere marks, governors don't deal with them and Taft should be in jail."
I don't understand the point of this statement, except to prove what I was saying.

Good one, Tomcat! Yes, Hillary's top person is now swinging in the other direction. It is out there for all to see. Even those in high positions finally see the light. Sara appears to be a very well educated and intrinsically smart person with a mission. On the other hand, Biden is asking a person who can't walk to stand up and take a bow, yes, he really knows this person. Of course in this valley, a nominee could be deaf, dumb, blind, a murderer, jewel thief, and anything else you could think of, BUT if they have a D beside their name, they will get elected. That's the Y-Town way.Everyone thinks in that D-shaped tunnel, they never ever look beyond. It just might come back to bite you in the butt again....Remember how much you all LOVED Bill Clinton?? Remember why you are now not working? Did you forget about NAFTA? That was his baby, he sold you down the river to Mexico, but you LOVED him and still do. He'll be back to help you, keep waiting...maybe the mills will re-open too. Obama is NOT your friend....he is his own best friend.

Obama will ruin this country. All our economic woes directly correspond with our last democratic president and our current democratic congress. Due to their inability to act and provide sound economic solutions, we now find ourselves in a precarious position. Clinton gave us NAFTA, which is a big reason many US jobs have left. Our current congress has been inept in passing any relevant legislation to help or improve our economy. They could go down as the most irrelevant and ineffective congress in our history! They've also blocked the way for any Republican legislation to pass...simply because they can! They wouldn't want any of those silly republicans to fix our economy.
As for local dem's, the picture is quite clear. This valley has slide downhill for 30 years. We just ranked in the top 10 cities with the fasted population decline this decade! I'm pretty sure democrats have run this town during this period. Why in god's name are we still voting them in. Lets give some republicans or independents a try for once! Can it really get any worse!

My fellow ysugrad........you are absolutely correct, BUT, it doesn't matter what either of us think. The fact is, this valley will NEVER change, it doesn't matter that the area is being depleted, nor that we are the laughing stock of the nation.....this is Youngstown, people here think on a one-way street, whether it is good for them or not. Doesn't matter, this is the Democratic way, period. That's all they know or care to know. You can type till your fingers fall off but nobody will listen or agree. People here think that this is the way things are all over the country. It is truly a sad scenario.

Sarah Palin To Be Dropped From McCain Ticket
The guns on the conviction of the sinner, Senator Barack Obama, are about to be silenced. Sarah Palin has done her job of connecting with the everyday people who will make the difference in the election. She has managed to make the Republicans, the party of, by and for the ruling class, the hope of the people in the margin, the smarter evangelicals who might have voted for Obama, the moms who struggle so hard to raise their kids in this mom unfriendly environment, the moose hunters and those Hillary women who can't distinguish their bras from their pocketbooks.
Palin has also managed to distract us all from the consequences of the hundred billion dollar bank bailout necessitated by the blind greed of Republican mortgage scammers, a grand heist on all who work for a living whose paychecks will be cut in half by the stupendous inflation this will bring about. Stocks, mostly owned by the rich, go up; and the real income of the workers and middle class goes down. This effective transfer of wealth from worker to ruling class is a continuation of the broader capitalist Republican manipulations that have caused worker incomes to drop by 2% in the last decade while those in the top tier went up by 200%.

McCain's conservative handlers have planned from the beginning to have Sarah leave the scene, once her job was finished, along with the baggage of her Trooper-gate conniving and her obvious lack of qualifications for the presidency.

We suspect her coming exit to have been intelligently designed from the start in its reeking of our situation down here in Texas where my fundamentalist mother still tries to control me, a 67 year old woman, from the grave by having left me an inheritance totally controlled by my castrated conservative brother, a lawyer who made it clear immediately after my mother's death that there's no way I would ever see a penny of the money left me unless I left my evolutionist professor husband of 35 years who rescued me from this moron, child abusing, family I had the misfortune to be born into. And if I know these scheming conservative game players correctly, Palin's exit will be blamed on something Michelle Obama said about Christmas or some equally absurd and vicious zinger. ...matrix-evolutions

Warren Buffett, the world's richest man, is backing Barak Obama for US president and thinks current US economic policy will push the dollar lower against other global currencies

Buffett told a press conference here Monday he had offered support to both Obama and Democratic rival Hillary Clinton but that since it appeared Obama would win the party's nomination, "I will be very happy if he is elected president.

"He is my choice," Buffett said.

Commenting on the US economy, the 77-year-old investor who is known as the "Sage of Omaha," stressed that fiscal, monetary and trade policies were of great importance.

"I think that the US has followed and is following policies which will cause the US dollar to weaken over a long period of time," he said.

After voicing support for Obama, Buffett nonetheless noted the US economy had managed to do "awfully well" despite a depression, two world wars and many financial crises.

"They say in the stock market ... buy stock in a business that's so good that an idiot can run it because sooner or later one will," he added.

41paydayloanadvocate(2 comments)posted 3 years, 3 months ago

The current presidential candidates, Barack Obama and John McCain, supported an anti-payday loan bill in 2006. The bill, which took effect in October 2007, put a 36 percent cap on the interest rates that payday loan stores charge military personnel. The basis behind the bill was the increasing number of American soldiers that found out that loans had been taken out in their names without their consent. Many of these loans were either given to identity thieves or to their spouses. More often than not, the loan recipients borrowed money, but did not repay the loans. A majority of the loans should never have been approved in the first place because the applicants didn’t meet the qualifications. Military personnel as a whole are generally considered low-income and sometimes, unfortunately, considered to possess very little financial knowledge. The government wanted to prevent identity theft of military members because it would also prevent security breaches. Therefore, the government ruled in favor of the measure. Barack Obama would like to employ the measure nationwide. If the same interest cap is imposed throughout the U.S., the payday loan industry will be wiped out. Take time to think about who you’re voting for because your financial liberties are at risk in this election.
