Hubbard Twp. police warn residents about man who tried to pick up teenage girl

Published: Tue, November 18, 2008 @ 5:42 p.m.

HUBBARD — Hubbard Township police are warning residents of a suspicious man who attempted to pick up an area girl on her way home from school.

According to a report, at 2:50 p.m. today, a male in a minivan approached a 16-year-old girl on Bellwick Road off Hubbard Road. The girl was told, “Get in the van, I will take you home,” but she refused and explained she lived in a nearby home that did not belong to her. After running through the home’s backyard, the girl witnessed the van head toward state Route 304, the report indicates.

The suspicious man is described as a white male with brown hair in his 50s, driving an 1980s or 1990s-model minivan with a faded maroon exterior.

Police are asking parents to warn their children of drivers offering car rides, and to call (330) 675-2730 to report any such activity.
