Boardman will see 10 new patrol officers

BOARDMAN — Voters showed up in a big way for the township’s safety services.
Approved with 62.8 percent of votes, the 2.2-mill Boardman police and fire levy will raise $2,078,924 annually over a five-year period. It will allow Police Chief Patrick Berarducci to hire 10 new patrol officers.
“I’ll be contacting the Civil Service Commission today,” he said. “Hopefully we’ll get those by the end of the week so we can start scheduling interviews.”
Berarducci said he plans to hire the best officers he can find.

Now hiring, do you want a position that will overpay you and give you great bennies for passing every auto accident to the state highway patrol while you and your buddies accost underage girls? Then the Boardman Township Police Department is waiting for you. Run! don't walk to your local civil service office if you are related to, or know very well one of the Township trustees, because thats the only way you'll get this cush job! If you want to spend this winter in the comfort of a warm cruiser at the corner of Overlook and Market streets waiting for the hood rats to pull over, then we'll see you soon!
Why admonish an entire group of people based on the actions of a few? Yes, just as in any profession, there are bad ones, and there are good ones. In most cases, the bad ones end up showing their true colors. It's just a shame that their actions paint the good ones in a bad light.
I know a couple of BPD officers, neither of whom are related to or knew trustees when they were hired. They're not the type of officers that you describe, and neither are the vast majority of their fellow officers.
Well said E328. I am glad to see Boardman following through with their promise to pass a levy for Safety Forces and hire immediately! This is an area that should never be shorthanded.
You two are freakin nuts. since the fire and bpd officers were laid off, there have been no instances of extensive property damage or deaths due to lack of a police or fire presence. Get lives. And as far as the interview process goes, I hit the nail right on the head. enjoy your new tax for nothing but more drunk cops with underage girls. And if I can I'd like to add that obama screwed most of the nation by getting more uneducated illiterate morons in the voting booths who voted for things thay haven't got the brainpower to understand. They all know they voted for Obsama, but the rest of the boxes were checked as randomly as most of their ged scores were.
