Home Depot to have fundraiser for injured cop

Published: Thu, May 29, 2008 @ 8:51 a.m.

AUSTINTOWN — Home Depot, 6100 Mahoning Ave., will have a car show in the parking lot from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 8 to raise money for Ross Linert, the Austintown police officer injured in a fiery rear-end collision last year.

Natalie Winkle said store personnel decided to organize the event to help Linert pay expenses that he continues to face as he undergoes treatment for burns. “We’re trying to raise money so he can have a better summer,” she said.

Those attending the car show can see driver Tony Stewart’s No. 20 car, buy T-shirts, food and Chinese Auction tickets that will go directly to benefit Linert’s family. There is no admission charge. Fab Limousine is planning to bring Linert to the car show for a couple of hours starting at 2 p.m.
