Happy couple married on WFMJ

Published:Friday, May 16, 2008

Mahoning Valley woke up early to catch the seventh WFMJ Today wedding that began shortly after 6 a.m. at the Butler Institute of American Art.

Regan Cokain, 26, of Hermitage, Pa. and Steve Cheney, 35, of Mercer, Pa. were the happy bride and groom of the televised wedding that featured about 300 of their family, friends and media in attendance. The newlyweds were chosen out of hundreds of applicants and were the seventh area couple to be married on WFMJ Today.

Before the ceremony began, the show featured footage of Schneider and co-host Laurie Lehosky interviewing the vendors who provided all the necessities for the event.

Then the cameras focused on the real action of the day, the vows to be exchanged by the soon-to-be Mr. and Mrs. Cheney.

“That was the most passionate kiss in WFMJ wedding history,” said Schneider of the couple's first embrace as husband and wife.

“I’ve had a lot of fun through this whole experience and today went really well,” Regan said.

I cannot fathom living in a city or pursuing a lifestyle where you actually apply to have your wedding shown on a local Youngstown morning show and believe it is special.
Who wants to get married at 6 am?
