Four deputies on administrative leave

Published: Fri, May 16, 2008 @ 2:24 p.m.

BOARDMAN — Mahoning County Sheriff Randall Wellington has placed four deputies on paid administrative leave following an incident at a South Avenue bar.

Wellington said his office is conducting an internal investigation.

Township police were called to the Lanai Lounge about 1:15 a.m. Friday of a report of gunshots fired from the parking lot. The person who called police saw the people involved leave the lot in a maroon sport utility vehicle.

Police found a spent shell casing in the parking lot and spoke to a patron of the bar.

How can local law enforcement wonder why the citizens have such a low opinion of them? Does a week go by without one or more of them embarrassing the good ones?

Let me see if I can foretell the end result of the "internal investigation". The LEO's are found to be not at fault and reinstated and is PAID administrative leave the standard in the Valley?
