BOARDMAN – Denise DeBartolo York awarded eight scholarships totaling $48,000 in memory of her father, Edward J. DeBartolo, to area graduating high school seniors today at the Holiday Inn. A press conference was held at a noon luncheon and the recipients were introduced. The scholarship students each received $6,000.
The Edward J. DeBartolo, Sr. Memorial Scholarship Foundation has awarded more than $400,000 in scholarships over the past twelve years and the work will continue well into the future, according to DeBartolo-York.
“The goals of the foundation have been to reward valley students, who have proven to be leaders by working hard academically and within their community, the opportunity to go to college. My father believed that all students who have demonstrated intensity and desire, regardless of their financial situation, should be afforded the opportunity to receive a college education.”
