SAVE Act will create a huge government data base of all Americans, not just immigrants

Published: Sun, May 11, 2008 @ 12:00 a.m.

EDITOR:

A new bill being pushed in the U.S. House of Representatives by some misguided Democrats and Republicans, the Secure America through Verification and Enforcement (SAVE) Act, contains provisions that should give all Americans cause for concern. Rep. Tim Ryan needs to stop this dangerous bill in its tracks.

The SAVE Act would dramatically expand the government’s flawed “E-Verify” program — ensuring that millions of Americans will be denied the ability to work. If passed, every employer in the United States will be required to verify the eligibility to work of every current and prospective employee, including U.S. citizens. In order to do this, the SAVE Act would create a massive government database containing extraordinary amounts of personal information, with no privacy protections, about every person in the U.S.

E-Verify is currently used by less than one percent of the nation’s employers. Despite the small number of participating employers, the E-Verify program has been besieged with ongoing technological snafus, database errors and bureaucratic bungling, causing numerous delays and financial losses for both employers and employees. Expanding it nationwide will only multiply and exacerbate these problems, setting up a monstrous system that will put millions of Americans out of jobs. At a time of growing economic uncertainty, the last thing we need is for Congress to pass legislation making it even more difficult for Americans to work.

Invariably, DHS will confuse the files of people with similar names or use outdated or erroneous information, creating a “No Work List” similar to the government’s “No Fly List.” The lessons of the No Fly List have taught us that it is virtually impossible to remove yourself from this kind of list.

The SAVE Act also expands the “no match” rule which would require employers to penalize or fire U.S. citizens and legal workers whose Social Security numbers don’t match up with the error-ridden Social Security Administration (SSA) database. The SSA estimates that the records of at least 12.7 million U.S. citizens in its database contain errors that could result in a “no match.” Last October a federal judge issued an order stopping the government from enforcing the rule, finding that it would cause irreparable harm to both innocent workers and employers.

In addition, the SAVE Act’s deportation-only provisions do nothing to solve the country’s immigration problems, and will subject many innocent people including children, asylum seekers, and victims of domestic violence and human trafficking to harassment, prolonged incarceration and abuse.

Americans want sensible solutions to the country’s immigration problems based on economic demands, labor priorities and constitutional protections. The SAVE Act amounts to nothing more than an assemblage of unsuccessful, ill-conceived proposals that will only worsen the problems. Our members of Congress must stay strong and oppose this ill-advised legislation.

The pending Federal SAVE ACT (H.R.4088) has not just been agreed upon the US government. Millions of citizens acknowledge it as a great bill, because it will stop the 12 to 30 million illegal aliens from stealing their jobs. Go to NUMBERSUSA and it will be revealed, that it is the Special interest lobby that wants it to die out. You will also find it's the majority of the powerful Democrats, holding back their timid party members, who want to gut its power once enacted. Currently Democrats are rigging the committees so it doesn't come up for a vote. Why stop the petition being voted on you ask? Because if the Democrats can keep the SAVE ACT (H.D.4088) dormant for a few more months, they can be rest assured the next president will sign a massive AMNESTY. Right know our government is skimming your taxes of about $345 billion a year, to support low income illegal foreign nationals. If an AMNESTY becomes law, taxpayers will be burdened even more. Then we must forget millions more will cross our open border, hoping for yet another legalisation AMNESTY. You the taxpayer must judge for yourself, because must the information published is on behalf of the parasite employers. Illegal immigrants are not just working in the field, they are taking high paying jobs; compliments of pariah businesses. You lose, they WIN...? Their massive profits come off the back of mostly the middle class. Go to www.numbersusa.com and read about the lies, propaganda indentified with the Federal SAVE ACT(H.R.4088) In the very neare future it might just SAVE your job.

Here is some additional facts about the Federal SAVE ACT (H.R.4088. Millions of illegal foreign nationals, once they cannot get a job, will start leaving the states at their own accord. This is called 'ATTRITION or simply put they will self-deport. The E-verify system is to eliminate predator employers, who exploit cheap labor. Businesses hire foreign nationals so they can pay sub-standard and no benefits. In addition most illegal labor gets paid under the table, so their is no health insurance or mandatory workers compensation. In most cases no federal or state taxes are paid, along with many other perks. Farmers can be some of the worst predator employers, who by law in the guest worker program, have certain requirements they have to perform. Decent transportation to pick up migrant workers, edible food and livable housing. They must also keep accurate records of wages and hours, which they do not like. hence they like to hire illegal cheap labor, that are not involved in the guest worker program. Currently leading Democrats are pushing for millions of more guest workers. House speaker Pelosi's reason, is because she is a grape plantation owner in Central California. So the reason is obvious. Outside of guest worker programs illegal aliens are taking a large percentage of jobs in casino's, teachers, longshoreman, construction, security guards just to name a few.
That's why American citizens and permanent residents need the protection of the Federal SAVE ACT (H.R.4088) The save act is not perfect, but the pro-illegal immigrant lobby leads you to believe their are millions of errors, when investigating workers. Some mistakes yes, but not in access. Even Federal employers have been verified through this system.
Remember this is the last chance we have, before Obama, Hillary or McCain as President enacts a massive AMNESTY.
You must make your own decision for your families future, not big business, congregational religion or the pro-illegal immigration lobby. Decide at www.numbersusa.com.

I applaud Tim Ryan for co-sponoring the SAVE Act. It will strengthen our border and force employers to verify social security numbers. The federal govt. already has ALL the information required of the SAVE Act. The govt. fails to use or share this information with law enforcement. Several states have forced employers to use the E-Verify system. It's free and easy to use. Employers get answers to 90% of the social security numbers they enter into the system within a few seconds.

The system does has a few errors, such as your maiden name, if you've never notified the SSA of your new married name.
You need to change this, so put the system to use. Ask people to uddate their names and refuse employment to illegal aliens. It's working in AZ, it will work nation wide.

Senators and Congressmen & women that support this bill, support jobs for all legal residents of the USA.
