Union headquarters to be moved to the Dayton area
DAYTON — A Washington, D.C.-based union that represents about 60,000 auto and other manufacturing workers will move its headquarters to the Dayton area by the end of the year, the union’s president said Tuesday.
International Union of Electrical Workers president James Clark said the majority of the union’s members are located in Ohio or surrounding states, including those at Warren-based Delphi Packard Electric.
Clark said he is exploring locations in the Dayton area. About a half dozen IUE headquarters workers will relocate to Dayton.
Tropicana owner files for bankruptcy protection
ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. — The owner of Tropicana casinos in Atlantic City and Las Vegas has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, nearly five months after New Jersey regulators stripped the Tropicana Casino and Resort of its license.
Tropicana Entertainment LLC said Monday it plans to continue operating its remaining properties throughout the country, including the famed Tropicana Casino and Resort on the Las Vegas strip, and will keep current staffing levels.
