Man run over after bar fight

YOUNGSTOWN — Two men were injured when a pickup truck ran over them in the parking lot of Big D’s Irish Pub on Mahoning Avenue after a fight around 1:30 a.m. today.

Michael D. Spellick, 29, of Cooper Street was the most seriously injured, police said. He was placed on life support at St. Elizabeth Health Center.

David Keith, 46, of North Schenley Avenue was sitting up and bleeding from the face and head when police arrived. His condition wasn’t immediately available from the hospital.

No arrests were made but police did interview the pickup driver, a Boardman man.

Police who interviewed witnesses at the scene learned that an argument started in the bar and Spellick was thrown out. Three others who had been involved in the argument also went outside. One told police that Keith was jumped by two men and, as he lay on the ground, was run over by the pickup truck. A bouncer at the bar told police that the pickup ran over Keith and Spellick.
