Policies Humane Society of Columbiana County

Published: Sun, May 4, 2008 @ 12:00 a.m.

The policies will not change with the new facility. The society does not accept owner-relinquished pets or stray animals. The animals that it acquires are those that are impounded or relinquished during animal-cruelty investigations. They are then made available for adoption into permanent homes.

The Columbiana County Dog Pound has jurisdiction over stray dogs and will accept owner relinquishments for a fee if they have space available. The society will provide traps for trapping stray cats, but it recommends that once captured, those cats should be taken to Angels for Animals.

Other society services provided are spay/neuter programs; assistance with cat or dog nuisance complaints and laws; educating local residents and youths on the necessity of spay/neuter and issues associated with pet overpopulation.
