X Canfield Chapter 3104, AARP, will meet at 1 p.m. Monday at Canfield Presbyterian Church, where blood pressure screenings will be available from noon until the meeting. A program will be presented by Canfield Middle School Band, conducted by James Volenik. The next directors’ meeting will be May 19.

AARP 4339

X Austintown Chapter 4339, AARP, will meet at 1 p.m. May 13 for a spring luncheon at Dino’s Restaurant in North Jackson. Call Doris Baker at (330) 799-5650 for reservations and tickets. Entertainment and prizes will be featured.

Doris Snyder is taking reservations at (330) 799-0670 for the May 20 trip to Riverside Inn; June 15 to Mountain Playhouse; Aug. 20 mystery trip; and Oct. 11-16 New England Tour.

The annual picnic will take place July 8 at Grace Lutheran Church, and tickets can be obtained from Doris Baker. Please take prizes for games at the picnic to any meeting.

Guests and new members are welcome at regular meetings, which are the second Tuesday of each month at Grace Lutheran Church, 162 S. Raccoon Road, Austintown.


X Retirees of Ajax Magnethermic will meet at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Station Square on Belmont Avenue.


X Mahoning Retired Teachers Association will meet at 11:45 a.m. May 14 at Antone’s Banquet Center, 8578 Market St. After the luncheon, Sally and Ed Winsen will present a memorial service for the members who passed away since last May. They will introduce the John M. Knapick Memorial book, provided by the John M. Knapick fund, which will be presented to the Mahoning County Main Library. Susan Gans from the Senior Center of Mahoning County will share the information about the programs and services available at the center. All area retired teachers are invited. X Bridge, 500, chess and checkers will be played when Martha Lupse 50-Plus Card and Game Club meets from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Thursday in Room 106 at Poland United Methodist Church. Bob Ferarra will give the devotions. Members are reminded to take a sack lunch; coffee and tea will be provided. No affiliation with the church is required for participation. Police, fire retirees

X The Police and Fire Retirees of Ohio, District 2-Chapter 10, will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Brandywine Clubhouse, 3390 Flo-Lor Drive. All retirees and DROP participants of the Ohio Police and Fire Disability and Pension Fund living in Mahoning and Columbiana counties, their spouses or survivors are welcome. SOAR 27-2 AND 27-6

X Steelworker Retirees, Local Union 1330 and 1331, will meet at 1 p.m. Monday at the Italian-American Veterans Centre, 113 S. Meridian Road. This will be the final day to purchase tickets for the June 4th picnic. Refreshments will be served. New members are welcome.


X St. Cyril Seniors will meet Thursday after the 11:30 a.m. Mass at the church hall, where a catered lunch will be served at noon. The cost is $7.50, and reservations are required by Monday. Birthdays and anniversaries will be acknowledged, and there will be a money raffle and bingo.


X St. Joseph Goldenagers will meet at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Lyons Hall with Evelyn Menaldi presiding. The thought for the day will be by Betty Connors, and there will be cards, bingo, a 50-50 raffle and the acknowledgement of birthdays and anniversaries. Cakes will be provided by Marge Nelley, Dorothy and Chuck Myers, Rose and John Klacik, Ann Sarago and Carmel Perrice.

St. Nicholas

X A luncheon meeting is planned for St. Nicholas Senior Citizens at 11:30 a.m. May 13 at Father Petric Social Hall with Laverne Cox presiding. Reservations for the luncheon are due Tuesday by sending a $7 check, payable to the group, to Lora Opsitnik, 138 Iroquois St., Struthers, OH 44471. New members are welcome.

YSU freetimers

X Youngstown State University Freetimers monthly breakfast will take place at 9 a.m. Tuesday at Denny’s Restaurant on Route 224 in Boardman. All retirees and their friends are welcome.
