Sen. McCain lands at Youngstown

Published: Fri, June 27, 2008 @ 10:54 a.m.

YOUNGSTOWN – Senator John McCain landed at the Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport in Vienna just before ten o’clock this morning.

McCain, the Republican party candidate for president, will meet with workers at the Lordstown General Motors plant later today. McCain stressed his visit is to promote and discuss his new technologies and his environmental plan.

McCain made it known that although the UAW generally supports Deomocratic candidates it wouldn’t discourage him.

“I know I may not get all of their votes,” McCain said, “but I have to tell people that I will put my country first.”

As McCain got off of his plane, he was greeted by four members of the U.S. Military Veterans Motorcycle Club. The four men were riding from Rochester, N.Y., en route to Indiana.

“I’ve been a McCain supporter since 2002,” said Michael Shestock, a member of the group. “He’s the right man for the job.”
