Seven recipients of scholarships named by Struthers Rotary

STRUTHERS — Seven Struthers High School students were named by Struthers Rotary Club as the recipients of scholarships in recognition of their willingness to serve their community through participation in activities and organizations that benefit those in need.

This year, $500 scholarships were awarded to each of the following students: Stephanie Baughman, Rachel Carr, Amanda Kovach, Megan Rosen, Elizabeth Sepesy and Jennifer Zdelar.

Ashley Harvey is the recipient of the $500 William Comstock Scholarship, which is funded by the Rotary and the Comstock family in memory of William Comstock, a Struthers High School teacher, board of education member, Rotarian and businessman who over the years gave money to local students to help with their college tuition.

Struthers High School Interact Club, a Rotary-sponsored community service club, awarded three $160 scholarships to the club officers, Sepesy, president; Harvey, vice president; and Carr, secretary.

Since 1984, the Rotary club has awarded $65,000 in scholarships from funds raised at its annual pancake breakfasts.
