Ralph and Evangelene Barbato mark 66 years of marriage at family dinner

X BOARDMAN — Ralph and Evangelene Barbato, of 5690 West Blvd., celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary May 31 at a family dinner at TJ’s at the Holiday Inn.

The couple’s family includes two children, Donna (Larry) Davis and Karen (James) Billock; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Mr. Barbato and the former Evangelene Costarell were married May 23, 1942, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Youngstown, where they are members.

Mrs. Barbato, a former school lunch room worker for the Youngstown Board of Education, retired in 1981.

Mr. Barbato was a supervisor for Commercial Intertech before he retired in 1978. He is a member of Commercial Intertech Retirees and the East High School Hall of Fame committee. An Army veteran, he served a 51-month tour of duty during World War II in Africa, France and Italy. He was awarded his medals 63 years later at the Memorial Day Parade in Canfield by U.S. Rep. Charlie Wilson of St. Clairsville, D-6th.
