COLUMBUS (AP) — Ohio Democrats have unanimously chosen state Treasurer Richard Cordray to appear on the November ballot as the party’s choice for attorney general.

Gov. Ted Strickland earlier this month endorsed Cordray, who Democrats hope will retain the scandal-marred office for the party. Marc Dann, a Democrat elected in 2006, was forced to step down May 14 in the wake of a sexual harassment scandal in the office.

The state party’s Central and Executive committees selected Cordray at its meeting in Columbus on Saturday.

Republicans have yet to choose their candidate.

Strickland appointed Nancy Hardin Rogers, who is on leave from her job as dean of Ohio State University’s law school, to be attorney general until the winner of the November election takes office.
