Former Youngstown State University President Leslie H. Cochran is getting into politics.
Cochran, who served as YSU president from 1992 to 2000, now lives in Fort Myers, Fla., and has filed as an independent candidate for the office of Lee County commissioner.
He said the county commission has failed to give property owners a break on taxes despite a growing revenue stream that now has given the county a reserve of $1.3 billion.
Cochran, in announcing his candidacy, said he is “fed up and taxed off.”
