Salem school board names city liaison

SALEM — Board of education member Brad Myers will be the liaison for the district with city council.

David Nestic, the city’s 1st Ward councilman, asked the board Monday evening to name a liaison.

As liaison, Myers will work with council to develop policies and projects that affect the board and the city, and report back to the school board.

Nestic, who is active in economic development professionally and on council, said there are no immediate plans for projects between council and the board.

One option, Nestic said, is that the board of education may want to have its meetings in council chambers in city hall.

Council has long broadcast its meetings on cable. Council is modernizing its antiquated equipment to enhance broadcasts as well as the system officials use within council chambers.
