BALTIMORE (AP) — Adam LaRoche singled in the tiebreaking run off George Sherrill in the 10th inning, and the Pittsburgh Pirates beat Baltimore 5-4 to end a run of seven straight interleague defeats and prolong the Orioles’ inexplicable futility on Sundays.
Brian Roberts hit a tying homer for Baltimore in the ninth, but the Orioles couldn’t complete a three-game sweep during a series in which they repeatedly fought from behind.
Nate McLouth homered and made a spectacular catch in center field for the Pirates, who earned their first win against an AL team since June 19, 2007, at Seattle.
