NEW CASTLE, Pa. — A woman was injured in an accident Friday on the Pennsylvania Turnpike’s toll road Route 60.

Sandra L. Gilbert, 70, of Burgettstown, Pa., was northbound near the Moravia Street exit around 1:20 p.m. when she left the road and drove over the east berm hillside, reported Pennsylvania State Police at Gibsonia, Pa. She hit a concrete barrier.

She was taken by helicopter to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh with internal and leg injuries, police said. They are investigating the accident.
