Recycling site opens in Pymatuning Twp.

SPECIAL TO THE VINDICATOR

MERCER, Pa. — A recycling site in Pine Township has been closed and a new one opened in Pymatuning Township.

Mercer County commissioners made the announcement at their work session Wednesday. The new site is now open to the public at the Pymatuning Township Municipal Building on Edgewood Drive.

Commissioners said they made the change in order to more evenly distribute recycling sites throughout the county.

Commissioner Brian Beader pointed out that Pine Township residents can still take recyclables to Tri-County Recycling, 199 Landfill Road, Grove City, and that the borough of Grove City has curbside recycling.

The other four recycling drop-off sites are unchanged, Beader said.

In another matter, Beader asked the other commissioners to consider creating a board of assessment appeals. The commissioners currently act as the appeals board, and Beader said having a separate board would save commissioners time. He added that Mercer is one of the few Pennsylvania counties that doesn’t have such a board.

Controller Thomas Amundsen pointed out, however, that members of such a board would have to be paid.
