Hearing held for dispatcher; outcome pending

Published: Thu, June 12, 2008 @ 12:00 a.m.

STAFF REPORT

WARREN — Police Chief John Mandopoulos says it will be at least next week before he decides on what administrative action, if any, to take against a dispatcher who called her husband before a police raid and illegally used the state computer system.

Mandopoulos had a hearing Wednesday for communications officer Robin Hager after an internal investigation.

In a letter from Capt. Tim Bowers, the department commander of support operations, to the chief, he said the internal probe found that Hager used her own cell phone to tell her husband that police were preparing for a raid, a violation of department policy.

She also used the Law Enforcement Automated Data System, or LEADS, to check who owned a car and if a person had a driver’s license. The information was provided to someone outside the department.
