WARREN—In celebration of Juneteenth, The Community Concerned Citizens of Warren will hold a heart-healthy picnic Saturday.
The event will be held at Quinby Park and will feature a walk and jog around the park, line-dancing, yoga, food contests, games, a talent show, and health screenings.
Juneteenth is the observance of the emancipation of blacks from slavery on June 19, 1865.
Rhonda Bennett, coordinator for the CCC, said the celebration in the park is meant to raise historical awareness, while advocating healthy habits and helping families bond.
Bennett said the event is open to all members of the community and will last from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.
The CCC is a non-profit organization that provides outreach to families and individuals, as well as community projects like neighborhood clean-ups.
Quinby Park is on Austin Avenue Southwest, between Oak and Front streets. For more information, call (330) -766-2459.
