Ben Franklin program
BOARDMAN — The public is invited to attend a free program on “Benjamin Franklin, The First Ambassador to France,” to be presented by Le Cercle Francais at 2 p.m. June 21 at Boardman Library, 7680 Glenwood Ave. The speaker will be George Gauthier, emeritus professor of French at Hiram College, who will present the program in English.

Le Cercle Francais is also presenting award grants to two Youngstown State University students, Steven Cunningham and Karen Woolstrum, for summer study in France. They are participating in YSU’s Study Abroad Program, and each will receive a grant of $500 while studying French at the University of Aix-en-Provence and while living with a French host family.
YSU students who wis h to apply for a grant to study French in a Francophone country should write to Le Cercle Francais, P.O. Box 1464, Youngstown, OH 44501.
NASCAR drivers plan to walk for Alzheimer’s
HARTFORD — NASCAR drivers Tony Steward, Kasey Kahne and Dave Blaney will walk to benefit the Greater East Ohio Alzheimer’s Association June 17 at Sharon Speedway during the “Ollie’s 360 Challenge, Race with the Stars.”
Fans who want to donate to the Alzheimer’s Association will be invited to join the drivers for a one-lap walk around the 3‚Ñ8-mile track.
