Published: Mon, June 9, 2008 @ 12:00 a.m.

PORTSMOUTH, Ohio (AP) — Kentucky police say an Ohio man shot at a Lewis County deputy after he was pulled over near the Ohio state line.

Kentucky State Police were assisting in the search Saturday evening for Jesse Dixon of West Portsmouth, Ohio.

Lewis County Deputy Mike Edington attempted to stop a car near Firebrick, Ky., Saturday evening when the driver stepped out and fired a round at the deputy. Authorities the deputy was not injured and Dixon fled on foot.

Deputy Johnny Bivens said the deputy fired back, but it was not clear if Dixon was injured.
