Dave Sugar hands Action 10th defeat in row in B league

Sugar Excavating scored six times in the fifth inning on only one hit in a 16-10 win.

STRUTHERS — In a wild game that featured 26 runs, Dave Sugar Excavating handed Action Physical Therapy their 10th straight loss, 16-10, in Class B action at Cene Park.

Dave Sugar scored six times in the fifth inning on only one hit. Jake Kucek and Ricky Segesto had two hits each for the winners while Todd Kibby drove home four runs.

Justin Shaffer (1-1) went the first four innings for the win, allowing one earned run with six strikeouts.

Matt Corner had two hits for Action whose pitchers walked 11.

R J Trucking 8, Dave Sugar Excavating 2

R J Trucking (7-4) had only five hits, but took advantage of five errors to score five unearned runs.

Brad Byers tossed five innings of relief for the win allowing only one earned run with three strikeouts.

Steve McNeely had two hits for the winners.

Kibby had two hits for Dave Sugar (8-3).

Roth Brothers 7, Action Physical Therapy 4

Dustin Uhlman, Pat Mulligan and Dave Schaffer had two hits each for Roth (4-7).

Robert Goeke went four innings for the win, with a save going to Schaffer.

Todd Gaisor and Owen Timlin had two hits each for Action (0-11)

Roth Brothers 8, Wharmby Sports 4

Roth rallied to score five times in the top of the seventh inning. Pat Mulligan went the distance for Roth to improve to 2-1 on the year. He had seven strikeouts.

Robert Goeke had two hits and drove home three runs.

Ben Bechtol and Nick Elliott had two hits each for Wharmby.

Simon Roofing 15, Youngstown Express 0

Simon Roofing (8-3) exploded for seven runs in the bottom of the first inning.

Matt Durkin had three hits while Rick Sommers had a triple and a double. Evan Bollinger tripled and singled. Luke Weymer (2-0) tossed a shutout.

The Express (3-8) managed five singles.

Class AA Metros 13, Blue Claws 6

SOLON — Josh Todasco pitched a nine-hitter with five strikeouts while Andy Dobson, Anthony Porter, Matt Yarab and Chester Kirkwood each had two singles and as many RBIs, to lead the Youngstown Metros in the Tri-State Collegiate League at Solon High School field.

Eric Pirtz and Mikie Hoelzel added two singles and one RBI apiece to aid the Metros, who collected 16 hits,

Biaggio Boyfin belted a homer and single and drove in four runs to pace the Blue Claws, while Jon Houston and Corey Holz each had one RBI and Kyle Schreneman and Dan Hudak two singles apiece.

Youngstown Metros 10, Twinsburg Blue Claws 6

SOLON — Starting pitcher Corby Vukovich and last-inning reliever Armani Johnson combined to pitch a six-hitter while Mike Hoelzel slugged a homer and single and drove in three runs, to pace the Youngstown Metros in the Tri-State Collegiate League at Solon High School field.

Vukovich also had six strikeouts while Zack Byler rappd two doubles and drove in one run to aid the Metros.

Dan Hudak had two singles and one RBI for the Blue Claws.
