Canfield trustees seek bids for new athletic complex

CANFIELD — Township trustees are advertising for bids for the work needed to turn a field on Herbert Road next to Old North Church into an athletic complex.

Trustees will open the bids at a special meeting at 7 p.m. June 24.

The township bought the 58 acres about a mile west of state Route 46 in 2006.

Work needed includes dirt moving and preparation of the land for athletic facilities, as well as building a pond and parking areas.

Reese said he hopes the park will provide a place for the Canfield Soccer Club to play its games, as well as provide recreation and sports facilities for other activities, such as ice hockey.
