These people were sentenced last week in Mercer County Common Pleas Court:
Richard Cornell, 25, of East State Street, Sharon, placed on one year’s probation for prohibited offensive weapons, a misdemeanor.
Thomas Daly, 39, Jamestown, placed on five years’ probation for indecent assault, a misdemeanor. Sometime between June 1 and Aug. 8, 2007, he rubbed the bare back and buttocks of a girl under 13 and rubbed his genitals against hers at a Greenville address.
Dujuan Dawson, 21, of Galbreath Street, New Castle, placed on two years’ probation for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, both misdemeanors. He was apprehended Dec. 31, 2006, on Pa. Route 208, Springfield Township, with cocaine and drug paraphernalia.
Justin Husband, 26, of Keefer Drive, Mercer, placed on two years’ probation for felony criminal trespass. On July 29, 2007, he illegally entered a Franklin Road, Coolspring Township, residence.
Gary Merchant, 47, of Dutch Lane, Hermitage, placed on four years’ probation and ordered to make restitution for receiving stolen property, a misdemeanor. He used stolen money orders to pay several of his own bills.
Shelly Mihalson, 37, of Oak Way, Sharon, sentenced to three to six months in jail followed by three years’ probation for aggravated assault. She repeatedly kicked a Hermitage police officer while he was trying to arrest her Aug. 7, 2007, at a George Street address.
Chad Miller, 32, of Manor Drive, Brookfield, Ohio, sentenced to three to 12 months in jail followed by two years’ probation for felony criminal trespass. He illegally entered Gateway Tavern, 1185 Vernon Road, West Salem Township on May 21, 2007.
Anthony Nguyen, 23, of Pittsburgh, sentenced to four to 26 months in jail for fleeing and eluding, a misdemeanor, and fined $200 for driving during suspension for a July 18, 2007, incident. Nguyen fled Southwest Regional Police at speeds exceeding 100 mph through Sharon, Farrell, Hermitage and Shenango Township.
Danny Thompson, 32, of York Street, Greenville, sentenced to three to six months in jail followed by one year’s probation for receiving stolen property, a misdemeanor. Thompson had a stereo, DVD player, two cameras, two bookcases and a VCR/DVD combo which had been stolen from St. Michael School, 80 N. High St.
Thomas Via, 36, of Sky Hill Road, Edinburg, placed on four years’ probation for manufacture of a controlled substance and disorderly conduct. He was apprehended May 29, 2007, at a Pulaski-Mercer Road address with six marijuana plants. He also pointed a firearm at a woman and told her he was going to kill her.
Scott Vogan, 36, of Conneaut Lake, sentenced to 14 to 48 months in prison for a consolidated misdemeanor count of bad checks. On June 25, 2007, he wrote a $1,551 check to McCandless Automotive Service, Grove City, knowing the check would not be honored.
David Patterson, 26, of Fullerton Place, Sharon, sentenced to one to 12 months in jail followed by six months’ probation for felony criminal trespass. Patterson was apprehended Aug. 3, 2007, in Uncle Bob’s Self Storage, 230 Snyder Road, Hermitage.
Jordan Cataldi, 21, of American Way, Hermitage, sentenced to six to 23 months in the Mercer County Jail followed by one year’s probation for felony burglary. On Oct. 30 or 31, 2007, he entered a Pine Tree Lane, Hermitage, residence and stole guns, a computer, knives, a television and other items.
Shannon Dick, 31, of Seig Hill Road, West Middlesex, placed on one year’s probation for insurance fraud, a felony. She filed a claim with State Farm Insurance Co. in September 2006, claiming that she lost two platinum wedding rings while water skiing when, in fact, she did not lose them.
Daniel Koebler, 22, of Franklin Street, Sandy Lake, sentenced to six to 18 months house arrest for theft by unlawful taking, a felony. He conspired with another man in May 2007 to steal a $59,000 John Deere excavator from Elder’s Sales and Service, 4488 Greenville-Sandy Lake Road.
Randall Mathieson, 20, of Hillcrest Street, Sharon, sentenced to three to six years in the state penitentiary for persons not to possess firearms, a felony. Mathieson threatened to shoot up another man’s house, then fired a .25-caliber automatic pistol in the man’s vicinity at a Stateline Road, Sharon, address. He had been convicted of a previous offense, which prohibited him from possessing a firearm.
Samantha McFall, 18, of Pulaski Road, Pulaski, placed on 15 months’ probation, ordered to perform 100 hours of community services and ordered to make restitution for a consolidated count of theft from a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor. On Oct. 13, 2007, she took cash and items from numerous vehicles in Hermitage. Items included compact disc players, stereo systems and a bookbag. There were 14 victims. Value of the stolen items was under $2,000.
Daniel Palmer, 22, of Georgetown Street, Sharpsville, sentenced to two to 12 months in the Mercer County Jail followed by a one year’s probation for one consolidated misdemeanor count of theft from a motor vehicle for the same incident as McFall. He was given credit for 62 days already served.
Crystal Michlich, 24, of 12th Street, Greenville, placed on one year’s probation for misdemeanor retail theft. She was ordered to make restitution and perform 100 hours community service. She stole $73 worth of socks and personal care items from J.C. Penney, 3405 E. State St., Hermitage, Pa., on July 24, 2007.
Darren Millhoff, 31, of Hamilton Avenue, Farrell, sentenced to four to 10 years in the state penitentiary for four felony counts of aggravated assault, one felony count of fleeing and eluding, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and driving under the influence, both misdemeanors. On Jan. 7, Millhoff intentionally rammed the vehicle he was driving into vehicles occupied by Pennsylvania State Police, a Hermitage and a Mercer police officer. He also operated his vehicle while the officers were partly inside his vehicle, causing neck and back pain to Troopers Eric Miller, Luke Nelson, Troy Owen, Mark Benson, Mercer Police Officer Richard Salantine and Hermitage Police Cpl. Brian McBride. He also nearly struck Owen as Owen approached his vehicle on foot.
Theresa Neely, 39, of North Oakland Avenue, Sharon, given a suspended seven-year sentence and placed on seven years’ probation for a consolidated count of felony retail theft that includes five cases. The charge is a felony because it is her third or subsequent. She stole $110 worth of clothing from J.C. Penney, Hermitage, on July 31, 2007.
Nichole Pumphrey, 20, of Emerson Avenue, Farrell, placed on one year’s probation for misdemeanor retail theft. She stole $146 worth of shirts and a hat Sept. 2, 2007, at Macy’s, 3515 E. State St., Hermitage.
Jennifer Schuller, 24, of Fourth Avenue, Sharon, placed on two years’ probation for resisting arrest and two counts of disorderly conduct, all misdemeanors. While being arrested Oct. 7, 2007, she resisted arrest, requiring the officer to use a Taser. Once in custody, she tried to break the rear window of the police vehicle requiring the officer to use a spray on her.
Devin Smith, 22, of Hermitage Hills Boulevard, Hermitage, placed on one year’s probation and ordered to perform 100 hours community service for criminal attempt to commit theft by deception, a misdemeanor. On Dec. 5, 2007, he presented a counterfeit $100 bill toward the $280 purchase of a cell phone at Wal-Mart, 45 Williamson Road, Hempfield Township.
