Fitzpatrick, Hitt connect for 4

Rondinelli Tuxedo won easily with a 12-0 shut out, while Livi Steel and Simon both captured close games.

STRUTHERS — Drew Fitzpatrick and Corey Hitt each had four hits as Rondinelli Tuxedo shut out Youngstown Express 12-0 Saturday in a Class B League game at Cene Park.

Phil Double, Jason Ferguson and Marc Kanetsky collected two apiece as Rondinelli pounded out 17 hits improving to a league-best 9-1 record. Corey Hill (2-0) pitched a six-hit shutout. Josh Fithian hit a pair of singles for Express (3-7).

Livi Steel 7, R J Trucking 4

STRUTHERS — Livi Steel (5-5) used a six-run third inning to knock off R J Trucking. Jae Leeworthy hit a bases-loaded triple to highlight the outburst in the third. Dan Perkins and Bobby Herberger each had three hits. Zach Cuffman (2-1) had nine strikeouts in the complete game victory. Nick Timko (2-1) suffered the loss for R J Trucking (6-4). Dan Kubala doubled.

Simon Roofing 3, Astro Falcons 1

STRUTHERS — Brad Bates (2-0) scattered four hits, allowed one unearned run and walked two as he pitched a complete game with eight strikeouts to pick up the win for Simon Roofing (7-3). Mike Vitucci hit a pair of singles. Jason Simons suffered the loss for Astro (6-4).

Astro Falcons 8, Livi Steel 7

NILES — The Falcons (6-3) scored six times in the fifth and sixth innings to come from behind and beat Livi Steel Wilder Park Friday. T.J. Rosenberg had three doubles and drove home five runs, while Jared Turocy and Bryan Visingardi had two hits apiece. Bobby Herberger singled and doubled with a pair of runs batted in for Livi (4-5).

Sugar Excavating 10, Youngstown Express 1

STRUTHERS — Dave Sugar (7-2) scored eight runs in the third inning in the win over the Youngstown Express Friday at Cene Park. Nick Dinello had three hits and drove in three runs. Travis Richey, and Ryan Nisbitt had two hits apiece. Joe Carrothers had a double for Express (3-6).

Youngstown Metros 4, Roth Brothers 3

YOUNGSTOWN — John Thomas and John Opincarne combined to pitch a five-hitter for Metros. Thomas worked four innings with five strikeouts to pick up the win. Opincarne allowed only one hit over three innings with three strikeouts for a save in a Youngstown Class AA League contest at Oakland Field Friday.

The Metros scored two runs in the first inning and two more in the third for a 4-0 lead. Roth Brothers scored three times in the bottom of the third.

Armani Johnson hit a pair of singles to pace the Metros. Rob Tamburro and George Rohan hit back-to-back doubles for Roth Brothers in the third inning.
