Mini Relay for Life events are planned at Wal-Marts

Local Wal-Mart stores are teaming up with the American Cancer Society to host a mini Relay for Life from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Aug. 9.

The event will take place at two Wal-Mart locations: the store at 3200 Atlantic Blvd. N.E. in Canton and the one at 2016 Millennium Blvd. in Cortland.

Some of the activities include an opening ceremony, a cancer-survivors reception, children’s activities, a frozen T-shirt contest, a doughnut-eating contest, a scavenger hunt, a water-balloon toss and a closing ceremony.

Fund-raising activities include a dart game, lollipop tree, luminaries and a pie-in-the-face contest. An assortment of snacks and other food items will be available for a donation.
