Day of Giving planned at Southern Park Mall

BOARDMAN — Southern Park Mall invites local nonprofit organizations to participate in 2008 Simon Evening of Giving, an annual shopping and entertainment event that raises funds for national, regional and local charities.

The fundraiser is a way for shoppers to jump-start their holiday shopping while supporting important community causes.

On the evening of Nov. 23, the mall will be reserved exclusively for the use of shoppers who have bought $10 tickets from participating charities. Of funds generated, $7 from each ticket will directly benefit the organization selling the ticket. The remainder will benefit the Simon Youth Foundation, a nonprofit organization that fosters educational and career development for at-risk youth.

Last year’s event at Southern Park raised more than $42,000, which benefited 67 local charities.
