Rabies vaccinations available Saturday

GREENFORD — Mahoning County District Board of Health, in cooperation with the city of Struthers, Animal Charity, the county dog warden, Angels for Animals and volunteer veterinarians, will give rabies vaccinations for dogs, cats and ferrets from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Angels for Animals, 4750 W. South Range Road (state Route 165).

No appointment is necessary for the clinics. The cost is $2. Dog owners must have their dogs under leash and cat owners should have their cats caged or carry them in a cloth pillowcase.

Rabies vaccinations are required for dogs, cats and ferrets over three months of age is required in the county health district.

“The rabies clinics are part of the board of health’s ongoing efforts to protect our families and their pets against the threat of rabies in wildlife,” said Matthew Stefanak, health commissioner.
