YOUNGSTOWN — Steve Simpson was arrested after a stabbing at his Garfield Street home but not accepted at the Mahoning County jail because his blood pressure was not at an acceptable level, police said.
Simpson, 53, was then taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center. He was in serious condition Monday. Once released, he is expected to be arraigned in municipal court on a charge of felonious assault.
Police who responded to the stabbing Saturday night found Zina Wright, no age given, who had lost a lot of blood from a wound to the left side of her chest. Wright, who also lives at the Garfield address, identified Simpson as the one who stabbed her with a steak knife.
