YOUNGSTOWN — A federal grand jury in Cleveland has indicted Roger R. Shaffer of Struthers for distribution of marijuana and possession of cocaine, marijuana and heroin. The FBI said a source used by the Mahoning Valley Law Enforcement Task Force told investigators that Shaffer had been selling marijuana for $1,000 a pound and storing the drugs in a lock box he kept at 2430 N. Redgate Lane in Austintown.
Court records show Shaffer, 31, was arrested by Austintown police during a traffic stop on April 2. During the stop, a police dog alerted on Shaffer’s vehicle. Police seized 45 pounds of marijuana, 4 1/2 ounces of cocaine and 20 grams of heroin. A search warrant was then used to enter the lock box at the Redgate Lane garage and one kilogram (2.2 pounds) of cocaine and 27 pounds of marijuana was seized.
