Cinema 8 in Hermitage cuts admission prices

HERMITAGE, Pa. — Cinema 8 is lowering its prices. Effective today, admission to all movies at all times will be $5.

The multiplex on State Street will continue to offer a mix of family, blockbuster and independent and foreign films, according to Katie Gancy, a spokeswoman for the theater chain, which also owns Shenango Valley Cinemas and Westgate Cinemas in New Castle.

Cinema 8 began screening indie movies this summer, after it was acquired by the chain. Films showing this weekend at Cinema 8 include “Kung Fu Panda” and “Indiana Jones.”

Also playing is the French independent film “Priceless,” a tale about a young gold digger who mistakenly woos a mild-mannered bartender, thinking he’s wealthy.

Indie-foreign fare will also be shown at Shenango Valley Cinemas beginning this weekend, Gancy said. The Russian-made historical epic “Mongol,” about the life of Genghis Khan, opens at Shenango this weekend.

To coincide with this weekend’s Hermitage Arts Festival, Cinema 8 will serve free small popcorn to all customers all weekend. “Enjoy the art and activities, and then come in to cool off and watch a fun movie,” said Gancy.
