Mill Creek MetroParks hosts Family Jubilee on Saturday

CANFIELD — The Mill Creek MetroParks Farm is inviting families across the Mahoning Valley to come out for a “Farm Jubilee” this Saturday from 3 to 6 p.m.

The event is being called an “Old Fashioned Summer Day” and will have activities such as croquet, badminton and checkers on the porch. Participants will also have a chance to hand churn ice cream and sample their product.

“We wanted a chance to go back 20 years ago when there weren’t iPods and video games and kids could be found playing outside on a hot summer day,” said Brenda Markley, agricultural programs manager at the farm.

Traditional farming tasks, like shelling peas and petting the livestock, will also be performed. This is a free event at the MetroParks Farm located at 7574 Columbiana-Canfield Rd., off Route 46 in Canfield.
