Ohio officer shot during traffic stop

Published: Mon, July 14, 2008 @ 12:00 a.m.

TWINSBURG, Ohio (AP) — Authorities say a suburban Cleveland police officer has been shot and killed during a traffic stop.

Twinsburg police say 33-year-old Joshua Miktarian was shot about 2 a.m. Sunday. Police say it’s not clear why the motorist was pulled over or what prompted the shooting.

Police say they have arrested a 23-year-old suspect but are not releasing his name.

Miktarian worked with a K-9 officer, a German shepherd that was in the car during the shooting. He lived in Tallmadge with his 3-year-old daughter and wife, who is an Oakwood police officer.

Twinsburg Police Chief Chris Noga says Miktarian owned a Gionino’s Pizza franchise in Sagamore Hills. He also played guitar in a rock band.
