Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Parilla Jr. to mark 40th wedding anniversary

X BOARDMAN — Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Parilla Jr., 38 Banbury Drive, will be celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary on July 14.

The former Doreen Schuller, a daughter of George and Naomi Schuller, and Mr. Parilla, a son of Joseph Sr. and Rosemarie Parilla, were united in marriage by Judge Edgar Diehm at the home of the bride’s parents. Their attendants were Gail McManus and Brian Schuller, and Joe Kren was a witness.

Their reception took place at the Brown Derby on South Avenue, and they honeymooned in Detroit, Mich.

Mr. Parilla was stationed with the U.S. Air Force for four years, serving 12 months in Goose Bay, Labrador. He worked for the Kroger Co. for 16 years until the company closed and then worked 11 years with the Ohio Department of Liquor Control prior to retiring in 1994.

Mrs. Parilla graduated from Youngstown State University in 1964 and from Westminster College in New Wilmington, Pa., in 1967. She taught for 43 years at Lynn Kirk School in Austintown and retired in 2007.

The couple are the godparents of Victoria Murray.
