IHL moves on minus SteelHounds

Published: Sun, July 13, 2008 @ 4:46 p.m.

YOUNGSTOWN — The president of the International Hockey League says the Youngstown SteelHounds will not be part of his league this fall.

Since the SteelHounds were booted out of the Central Hockey League on June 2, the IHL has been the only league to express an interest in having the SteelHounds be a member for 2008-09.

But because SteelHounds owner Herb Washington has not held formal discussions with the IHL, Paul Pickard says the Midwest league says it will play its 2008-09 season with the six teams it had last season: Fort Wayne Komets, Muskegon Fury, Port Huron Icehawks, Kalamazoo Wings, Flint Generals and Bloomington Praire Thunder.

Complete story appears in Monday’s edition.
