CUYAHOGA FALLS — Former Attorney General Marc Dann avoided appearing in court Friday afternoon by paying a $139 speeding ticket.

Dann was to appear in Cuyahoga Falls Municipal Court at 1 p.m. Instead, he mailed in a check.

An Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper pulled Dann over about 10 a.m. June 27 on the Ohio Turnpike in Boston Township. He was going 85 mph, 20 miles over the posted limit.

Dann has said he was taking his daughter to Cleveland Hopkins International Airport.

He resigned as attorney general after admitting an extramarital affair with a subordinate and mismanaging an office plagued by a sexual-harassment scandal.

Dann will get two points on his driver’s license because of the speeding offense, court officials said.
