Police recover motorcycle stolen in 1999

Published: Sat, July 12, 2008 @ 12:00 a.m.

STAFF REPORT

NEW MIDDLETOWN — Village police and the Ohio State Highway Patrol are investigating a motorcycle that was found here after being stolen in a 1999 burglary in Youngstown.

Sgt. Vincent D’Egidio of New Middletown got a tip Friday the bike was in a storage unit on Calla Road. He searched the unit and impounded the vehicle.

The investigation showed the identification numbers had been removed. The person who rents the unit said he bought the motorcycle several years ago and did not know it was stolen.

Sgt. Kenneth Goist, assisted by the highway patrol, was able to locate and identify stamped parts on the motorcycle, which led to the identification of the stolen property.

Police are looking for a suspect. If anyone has any information, contact D’Egidio at (330) 542-2846 or page him at (330) 613-0584.
