YOUNGSTOWN — The Mahoning County commissioners voted to advertise for bids for the repaving of 5.8 miles of Mahoning Avenue from Meridian Road to Meander Reservoir in Austintown.
The commissioners took their action today; the bid opening will be in early August; and the work should start immediately after Labor Day and take two months to complete, said Richard A. Marsico, county engineer.
At least one lane of traffic in each direction will be maintained throughout the construction, Marsico said. Most of Mahoning Avenue in Austintown is five lanes wide.

It's about time! Last night, I hit a pot hole while travelling on Mahoning Ave just before the Meander bridge, and bent a wheel. The state of that road is a disgrace.
~I am happy to hear they are going to do something this year and not wait until next year like they wanted to!
~our roads are such a disgrace
its no wonder our roads are a disgrace.. Mahoning ave was taken over by the city of Youngstown and it hasn't been paved in 9 YEARS...but there's a bank on every corner.
Finally stared paving? Not been up there yet but it is getting late to start now. Guess the snow doesn't mean anything and by spring the road will already be on it's way to pot holes again.
