Mother tells cops: ‘I want my child gone or dead’
YOUNGSTOWN — The mother of a 7-month girl told police she was sick of the child and wanted her gone or dead.
Officers sent to the woman’s Alameda Avenue home on the city’s North Side around 11 p.m. Sunday were told by the child’s grandmother that the mother wanted to drown the child in the bath tub.
The mother told police that she has no job, time or money and it would be best for Mahoning County Children Services to take the child.
The mother didn’t want the grandmother to care for the child, saying “I’ll have to look at her every day. I want her gone or dead,” police said.
The mother was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center for an evaluation, based on her thoughts of violence, and the child was left in the care of her grandmother. The case was referred to children services.
