Boardman man killed
in Canfield accident
CANFIELD — The Canfield Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a two-vehicle accident early Sunday on U.S. 224 in Canfield Township that killed a 56-year-old Boardman man.
William Winning was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown, where he was pronounced dead. Also taken to St. Elizabeth’s was the driver of the other vehicle, 17-year-old Chase W. McKinney of Boardman. He had non-life-threatening injuries. The hospital said he was treated and released.
The accident occurred at 12:35 a.m. near milepost 14. OSHP is still investigating, and no other details were available Sunday night.
to mark 5th anniversary
VIENNA — Vienna Township Neighborhood Watch will celebrate its fifth anniversary with its next meeting 7 p.m. Jan. 14 at the Vienna Town Hall. Guest speaker will be U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan of Niles, D-17th, speaking about the sewers in Vienna and the transition to digital TV that will take place in 2009. All township residents are welcome to attend.
College aid workshop
BROOKFIELD — The Brookfield High School guidance department will have its annual financial aid workshop for prospective college students at 7 p.m. Thursday in the high school cafeteria. Sarah Helmick from Kent State University will provide information on all aspects of financial aid. Students and their parents are welcome.
Scout winter event
CANFIELD — Arrowhead District of the Greater Western Reserve Council, Boy Scouts of America will have its annual Boy Scout winter event Jan. 19 at Camp Stambaugh, 3712 Leffingwell Road. There will be winter events from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. This year’s event will involve all Boy Scout troops in Trumbull County. More than 300 Scouts, adult leaders and staff members will participate. Patrols will compete against one another at eight stations along the trail involving skills they have trained for throughout the fall. The stations test how well they have trained for living and surviving in a winter environment. ‘Flivvers & Fredonias’
YOUNGSTOWN — The Youngstown Historical Center will have its Children’s History Club program “Flivvers & Fredonias” noon to 3 p.m. Saturday. The program, at 151 W.
