“Desperate Spaces” (1 p.m., HGTV): Planning to perk up your place in ’08? “Desperate Spaces” offers some ideas. Hosts Daniel Kucan and Lise Simms will offer advice to three homeowners, suggest new design plans for each, then surprise one with a room makeover. Starting next week, the series airs Tuesday at 9 p.m.
“The Music of Seal on Ice” (4 p.m., NBC): With a nod to 1990s sound, the singer performs his classic hits such as “Kiss From a Rose,” and skaters including Brian Boitano, Kristi Yamaguchi and Todd Eldridge offer their interpretations of the music. The program was taped Dec. 18.
College bowl games (various times, networks): The college football bowl season starts to really heat up today with USC meeting Illinois in the Rose Bowl and undefeated Hawaii taking on Georgia in the Sugar Bowl. Rose: 4:30 p.m., ABC. Sugar: 8 p.m., Fox.
“The Biggest Loser” (8 p.m., NBC): Didn’t we just finish a season of “The Biggest Loser”? Well, yes we did, but here comes another one right on its heels. And Season 5 contains a twist: 10 teams of two will square off against one another, including a mother and son, husband and wife, best friends, brothers and a divorced couple.
“Sleep on It” (10 p.m., HGTV): “Sleep on It” follows prospective home buyers who spend 24 hours in a house they like but haven’t committed to buying. The series will air regularly Wednesdays, starting this week, at 10:30 p.m.
