YOUNGSTOWN — In response to the violence hitting Gaza, Palestine, a vigil and demonstration are planned for Monday and Tuesday.
The Arab-American Community Center of Greater Youngstown will sponsor the events to express solidarity with Gazans and to inform the public of the crisis unfolding overseas today, a representative for the organization said.
On Monday, between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m., a vigil will take place at the Center at 15 Belgrade Ave., in Youngstown.
On Tuesday, demonstrators will gather in front of the Thomas D. Lambros Federal Building and U.S. Courthouse on 124 Market St., in Youngstown.
Representatives of the Center said that coverage of the Gaza attacks show Israel as a retaliating “innocent victim,” which they say is characteristically untrue. The events are meant to provide other dimensions to the Palestinian-Israeli confrontation, along with highlighting the plight of the Gazans,
Organizers are seeking demonstrators of “goodwill and peaceful intentions” for the events.
