Youngstown man, woman report robbery outside South Avenue bar

Published: Mon, December 22, 2008 @ 12:02 a.m.

YOUNGSTOWN — A city man and woman told police they were robbed at gunpoint while leaving a South Avenue tavern early Sunday.

The woman, 39, and man, 41, told police they were leaving Teenie’s Tavern about 4 a.m. Sunday and while they were clearing snow from their van, two men approached them, drew handguns and went through their pockets.

The two men took the woman’s wallet, which contained personal documents but no cash, and fled on foot.

Police searched the area but didn’t locate the robbers.

Looks like the the bars are a hotspot for holdups. Since they got no money it must have been all spent at the bar. They are lucky the van wasn't taken.

Grump, they might have been employees. They never said. Crimes seem to go up this time of year, but it seems worse with the way the economy is right now.

School's out for the holidays. WTF would anyone go out after dark up there? South Avenue is a wasteland.

They are lucky they left with their lives. Why would anyone in their right mind be at a bar on the South side till 4 am working or not?

No need to leave early as there was plenty of booze available. You only need to leave when the money runs out.

If they were there working then they would of had tip money.

Unless the woman, 39, and man, 41, were college students -- what does school being out for the holidays have anything to do with this story?

And as far as the "I wonder how many ;( the YPD has given Teenie's?" comment... Probably no ";('s", cus the YPD is probably too busy drinkin' beers up at Teenie's while they're on the clock!

Nothing good happens from being out after Midnight; especially in "Williamsville"

It still doesn't make sense, genius. How does Youngstown public schools have anything to do with adults being at a bar at 4am on the Southside?

Did I miss something somewhere?

Point taken about crime going up when school is out... except you've got the wrong bar parking lot robbery, lol. Kids did the one at Irish Bob's, men did this one.
